Somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but I haven’t ever seen Doctor Who. I mean, I get some of the references because other things reference it, but… Yeah, ditched cable TV 15 years ago. Too expensive for not enough enjoyable content, and too many commercials.
Unpopular opinion ahoy: While i DO like Tom Baker, the quality of his performance varies wildly. There were some serials where he CLEARLY didn’t wanna be filming that day. I like Jon Pertwee more, as even though his bad serials were worse than Baker’s, Pertwee’s gentleman spy persona was way cooler. Plus his chemistry with The Master was just chef’s kiss-caliber amazing.
For posterity, my favorite Doctors are Eccleston, Capaldi, Pertwee, Hurt(Shut up, he counts!!!), then Smith.
Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor.
The Fourth Doctor was by far the best.
Having only seen the new series, I’m very partial to David Tennant.

If your local library carries DVDs, they might have some episodes there.
