I sometimes wonder if Norm was thinking of retiring Marla from the strip and let Arthur here take over.

I’ve been in stores where someone tried to use an expired coupon and the cashier will not let them use it. I don’t know why the customer always acts like it’s the cashier’s fault it’s expired.

They have been trained like animals that if they make enought of a stink the corporate overlords will buckle to their demands, the cashier’s following the rules be damned.

At the end of the day, retail is hell not because of the customers usually, but because the customers have been taught being crappy to the workers is ALLOWED by corporate.

If they empowered the workers rather the undermine them for the sake of maybe keeping a customer, aka profit over people, retail would not be as soul crushing. Any retail place I have worked where the manager and area manager stuck up for us or pushed back against corporate general were not the usual retail experience.
