And right now, I suspect that the words “Let’s just say he was a perfect employee in every freakin’ way.” is currently echoing through her mind.

I think Suchet has just found his soul mate.

And there’s the first signs that Josh is as pleasant as an elevator fart after Taco Tuesday.

Uh, Josh… Talking back to your boss? When it’s not warranted?

Marla is a good boss, unless you pull something like this.

Did you really think that would go over well?

You just made enemies with the wrong person. A seven-year-long adversarial relationship.

    Congratulations. You’re a jerk.

P.S. I sugarcoated this entire comment.

A completely illogical accusation like that is a great way to get yourself fired, Joshua. Marla’s management style has nothing to do with holiday help not showing up on their first day. How would they even know what kind of manager she is before going into work?

Seriously, Josh is such a pretentious weasel.

Any idiot would know that you don’t criticize your boss. Maybe you can beard them in private, but not in public, and certainly not on the first day when you know nothing about how the store is run.

    Panel Five:

Marla: “What did you just say to me?”

    Josh: “Well-”

    Panel Six:

Marla: “You haven’t even been working here for one minute, PAL. I don’t know what college you’re goign to, or who raised you, but where I come from, it’s not generally a great call to insult your boss, ESPECIALLY on your first day, and you have no idea how things really operate here.”

    Josh “I-”

    Panel Seven and Eight:

Marla: “I am in charge of making sure things get done around here, keeping the entire staff accountable and trained, and putting out fires from both the front lines AND behind the scenes. I have been working in retail since I was in high school, and I have three* years of retail management expirince. You? You’re seasonal help. Who JUST got hired. I know what I’m doing, and you haven’t even been TRAINED yet.”

    Josh: “But-”

    Panel Nine:

Marla: “I’ll let it slide this time, Buster. But stay in line and mind your own business, beeswax, and manners. If you ever behave like this again, Joshua (that’s right, I ‘full named’ you), there WILL be consequences. Now, what are the only two words I want to hear out of your mouth right now?”

    Panel Ten:

    Josh: “Yes, ma’am.”

Marla: “Good. Now let’s get started on your training.”

Oh! I forgot to add something about how management, no matter who the manager is or how they are managing, is not to blame for people being late ON THEIR FIRST DAY!

Good first impression of what working with Josh is going to be like.
