      Which, according to Wikipedia, is what “Grumbel’s” is a parody of?

      Yes it is. Also, according to Wikipedia, Gimbels started an annual Thanksgiving Parade 4 years before Macy’s, and they were the first store in the world to use escalators between floors. Interesting.
