That was the best part of seeing teenagers coming in for the first time on the other side of the name badge. A year or two before, they were there with their friends on a rampage, knocking cereal off the shelves, messing up the organization of the shelves, smashing gallon jugs of milk in the dairy section, and now they have to deal with cleaning up after that.
Watching the light leave their eyes put the light back in mine for just the briefest of moments and warmed my stone cold heart.
I’ll admit, I’m evil, but at least I’m willing to outright own up to it.
