    I had a boss who would make us come off lunch once upon a time, even though that is illegal. Breaks are required to be uninterrupted and duty-free, especially since the lunches at that company were unpaid. He was eventually demoted.

    Marla’s mom has a look in panel 3 that says she doesn’t get what her own flesh and blood is bluntly inferring to her, and is about the give her a talkin’ to for eating on the job.
