About fifteen years ago, I went into my local Dullard’s late during the shopping season to look for some wine stoppers (stocking gift for a fancy family member) but couldn’t find anyone to help me. For some reason, I was weirdly desperate to get some wine stoppers, so to get someone’s attention, I grabbed an item — some kind of hot dog heating thing whose box looked like it had been bought, opened, and returned about a half-dozen times — then walked out to the little entrance way and stood there for a few minutes. NO ONE CAME AFTER ME. I actually went outside, walked around to another entrance, came back inside, walked back to the kitchen area where I’d gotten it, and still was a ghost town. I left the darn thing back where I found it and left. Later thought I might have had better luck grabbing one of their fancy crystal things they had on display — either in terms of getting someone’s attention and having something nice to give as a free gift — but I never tried that again.
Told that story at a family dinner where we were reminiscing about Xmases past just a year or two ago. Should have known better not to: my mother’s reaction was amazement that they weren’t celebrating my release from jail. :shrugs:

I could have sworn what Lunker did was a big no-no as far as Grumbles is concerned. Aren’t they always looking to avoid lawsuits?
