    Ah, yes.

    Companies installing self-checkouts. They clearly expected more shoplifting, but they thought that the payroll savings would more than balance it.

    Not so much! And checkouts are coming back…

    This kind of customer is one of my personal nightmares. The kind that holds up the line.

    I for one love self checkout. I’m tired of cashiers telling me how much the bags can hold, so they double-bag everything “for safety.” I spent over five years as a cashier bagging things, and I don’t appreciate being told “no”. The customer may not always be right, but being talked down to and my wishes explicitly ignored crosses the line.
