My last retail job, rather than being open on Thanksgiving, split the Black Friday sale over Wednesday and Friday. It actually helped a lot. Instead of one utterly chaotic day, it was two busy-but-not-insane days.
Yeah, my current job spreads the sales over the whole month. Only thing I remember being really busy was the TV area we setup in a separate area.
