Too true.
To be clear, the takeaway is not “office employees should not be allowed to chat”, it’s that in either case, employees should be allowed to chat and be HUMAN and not expected to be drones who do nothing but work, work, work.
So during an inspection/audit from someone from our corporate office, I got a talking too because I allowed employees to decorate the walls by were their lockers and time clock was located. Keep in mind were talking about comic strip clippings, fortunes from cookies, drawings and such. I was forced to take it all down.
Fast forward about 6 months and we are at a manager’s conference at a hotel near our corporate offices. One of the “activities” during a break was a tour of the corporate office. One guess as to what I saw all over the employees cubicle walls.
So, so true!
Sounds about right. At the corporate offices of the grocery store where I work they recently put in a game room and a Starbucks.
