    These kinds of hacks actually happen ALL THE TIME. It’s up to the company to decide if they want you to know or not. Smaller businesses won’t tell you they’ve been hacked because they know they can’t survive the PR backlash, but bigger businesses that can will tell you.

    Basically, I’m saying if you’ve ever used a Credit or Debit card for a purchase, you’ve probably been involved in at least 3 of these at minimum.

      Not in Europe. They’re legally obliged to go public about it within a certain span of time. They’re not allowed to try and hide it or the fines can run into 6 or 7 figures

        Not in America, either. Any outfit that does not disclose that information is in serious trouble.

    While it wasn’t unknown in 2014, it wasn’t really commonplace. The early victims would likely have gotten a major black eye for being the first.
