Fine then… hey, Amber?! The secret shopper report has this fussy little complaint about you and Stuart’s wetting his pants over it. Whaddya think of that?
Generally speaking it wastes a lot of time to help customers find something. Not that we don’t do it when asked but if we can just point someone in the right direction it helps us get our other work done. We have this one guy at my store who latches on to new employees and gets them to find his entire Instacart shopping list so he doesn’t have to do it. Every single time someone finds him doing it they pry the new employee off and give them the low-down on this guy so it doesn’t keep happening.
Working at a grocery store I had a customer ask me to show him where an item was. I was walking him down the aisle and he started saying over and over and getting louder and louder “It’s not in this aisle!” It’s not in this aisle!!!!” “IT’S NOT IN THIS AISLE!!!!!”
So while Amber is guiding this customer to where they need to go to find something, someone else like Karen last week can’t find someone to wait on her. She calls Corporate to complain. Amber gets blamed for not being there to help Karen because she was guiding another customer to the exact location the item they want is. Either way she’s wrong!
“I think that warrants a discussion, don’t you?”

Then I pointed to the item and left.
