I actually side with Stuart on this. You shouldn’t be allowed 5-minute breaks where all you do is damage your health.

Yep me too. 4-5 extra breaks because you willingly got addicted…how about no. Especially when you’re leaving all the work for the non-smokers to do.

I’ve heard that often smokers get breaks non smokers don’t get and the non smokers are expected to pick up the slack. Glad that never happened to me. I’d have said for every smoking break they get, I get a reading break.

My job doesn’t have smoke breaks. You smoke, you do it on your normal breaks.

Apparently some company in China made it so that if you didn’t take smoke breaks, you got six days or so extra in vacation time to make up for it. It actually helped a lot of people quit smoking. Sounds like a fair trade-off to me!

I worked in a restaurant on ten hour shifts with no actual break because the AM didn’t like me, then she became the manager. She and her favorite waitresses would sit in the smoke section and laugh it up while I took sips of soup between register surges. This was late 2000, when restaurant still had those.
