    most of my managers would give you time off in advance if you said “I’m going to a party.” or something else as long as you actually showed up otherwise, i once told my manager “i need to go to this event” like 4 days before and even though i probably should have been written up my manager didn’t cuz she understood that i was a good employee who could be counted on most of the time!

      makes sense. however you also sound like someone who was pretty consistently reliable and would easily make up for a short-notice request for a day off and know someone who liked you enough to cover
      your shift. love honesty in a workplace tbh i wish it were more commonly allowed for managers and staff to
      just say why something is happening
