This guest probably wanted some women’s hosiery, mason jars, hedge clippers, and coal for the grill. None of which her alleged nephew turning 8 y/o would have any use for, and at least one of which she’d try to return in a week. Really, the only thing that would get me to let them in is if they promised to help me zone until I got to go home if they weren’t in and out in 10 minutes or less.

Serves you right for putting it off until literally the last minute, lady.

Years back we had a guy run up just as the door was being locked. He pleaded he desperately needed only one thing and would be super quick. The manager did let him in. He ran to the back and ran right back up with a tackle box. I always wonder why he needed a tackle box so desperately at that moment in time.

At least he kept his word and was super quick. I hate the people who claim that, yet spend the next hour (after closing!) leisurely browsing the store.

At my store we fix that issue by shutting down the registers once the lines are clear and we make sure customers are aware of this fact. If they aren’t up there when the registers are shut down they can’t buy anything and will have to wait until the next day.

“It’s almost quarter of.”? Is that a typo?

No. That’s just how some people talk. In that local vernacular, “Quarter of Ten” is 9:45.
