Not to mention, you need to have some actual time in the position for it to look good on the resume. “I was a supervisor for one day” just doesn’t cut it.
Thing is, I’m seeing here that Cooper is conditioned to think that taking care of yourself first is selfish. That’s sad, honestly. You always need to take care of yourself first before you take care of anyone else, including spouses/partners, your job, kids, other family/friends, etc… Being selfish is when you’re doing anything I just stated AT THE EXPENSE OF SOMEONE ELSE. Frankly, Cooper’s situation wouldn’t be at anyone else’s expense. So if he DID look for a job elsewhere, he wouldn’t be selfish, he’s just be looking up for himself first so he could be a better citizen and partner to Val. IF he DID look for an adjacent higher-paying job, I’d get it.
….obligatory “thank you for coming to my TED talk”.
