tbh, as the #2 in the whole store, Marla should have authorization to fire. And should use it in appropriate situations. HINT HINT.

Even if Marla had authorization, approval would have to come from Stuart. Which also explains why Courtney stuck around so long (to Stuart, she’s a warm body).

And my impression is that assistant managers typically don’t have authorization to fire an employee for cause.

IN a lot of these big stores, even the manager doesn’t have authority to fire and can only make a recommendation. the actual decision has to be made by the HR department.

Is he really so clueless that he doesn’t realize that a male inspecting the hemline of a female is inappropriate?

Apparently, yes….or so knows that Zucchini Head will gladly go to bat for him unless he kills a customer.

Teachers constantly stare at the legs of teenage girls, supposedly to check if their skirts match the dress code

I had a sense that my manager at my fast food job was picking on me. This was confirmed when she scolded me for not ironing my uniform. I would wash it and hang right away. Gravity worked to smooth out any wrinkles while it dried. She insisted that I was required to iron the uniform and that “everyone else” ironed theirs. She walked me to at least 3 other cashiers, asking, “you iron your uniform, don’t you?” before giving up because they all replied, “no, I wash it and hang it up”.

If the rulebook’s from ’48, I imagine there’s something in it that Val is automatically in violation of all the time. Like to see Josh try to make an issue of that.

Don’t know what Jim Crow laws were in effect in Rhode Island…

Some of the female employees, Marla included have worn pants. I’m sure the handbook from 1948 forbade pants on women. Now why don’t you go do something useful Josh, like jump off the roof?

That’s actually a bad idea. He’ll see Cooper’s Lounge and go ballistic.
