    The way Stuart says “Don’t flatter yourself” after Marla uses the phrase “defending my honor” shows that he still thinks of her as just a woman in the most’50s stereotype, sexist way. Going through all these old strips has reminded me of his occasional displays of humanity, but then the abundance of this kind of behavior reminds me that Marla’s flip attitude towards him in the final strip was warranted.

    I hate to say it, but Staurt’s kinda right. Not about his rudeness to Marla, but with the fact that Brice bit the hand that fed him. You don’t have to show him sympathy, and ultimately Stuart seems to have the last word. If he doesn’t want Brice to take over the store, he won’t let him.
