I remember an episode from Drew Carey’s sitcom where the British manager insisted everyone stay in the store and keep working even as a tornado barreled its way towards the store. It’s played for laughs, but it still shows how their coworkers could die for all they care as long as the machine keeps chugging along. I’m surprised there was no arc where it turns out that corporate secretly has life insurance policies on Marla and the others that’ll pay off if a worse case scenario happens.

Look up what happened with Amazon recently with the tornados that hit. Chilling how accurate that sitcom (and this panel) turned out to be

In reality, in this day and age, they tell you to stay in a dangerous storm (especially when the government tells you to stay off the roads) you tell them to shove off.

Reminds me when I worked at Sears in an ice storm. They should have closed the mall, but it took an hour just to get out of the parking lot. Ridiculous.
