So he doesn’t expect one person to stay in the store alone overnight. I was once offered a job at 7-11 working the midnight shift but I’d be alone overnight as a young woman and I didn’t feel safe with that so I didn’t take the job.

I’ve always told myself that if I find myself looking for work at a gas station or as a telemarketer, then I have truly hit rock bottom.

the gas station I worked at only had one attendant for graveyard shifts. Since you’d get maaaaaaybe 4 customers from the hours of 2am to 5am, you had to find ways to occupy your time. As this was back in the days where you could preload videos on youtube (I miss that), I would bring my laptop and set it up in the backroom and just hunker down there periodically.

You’d think that theft and other exciting things would be more likely to happen on a graveyard shift when there is only one attendant but you’d be wrong. Gas and dash customers only came during peak times, and the one time we got robbed was an afternoon shift, literally 20 minutes after shift change. I arrived home to some frantic text messages from my manager asking if I was ok.

    Graveyard shifts still suck
