For those who wanted what I originally posted on this day, in response to people saying that Marla was “being unprofessional” and should have been nicer to STU-MAN blah blah blah….
“Yeah, Marla, after all the great and wonderful things Stuart did for you, how dare you just up and give him a two-day notice!

Of course, those “great and wonderful things” include attempting to replace her with his pet weasel (twice!), making her train new store managers when she could’ve been promoted instead, bypassing her on the chain of command multiple times, pawning off the work he was too lazy to do onto her, trying to fire people Marla liked, chastising her for being 27 seconds late, giving her a wedding present and time off, taking all the credit for her success even in his absence, blaming her whenever things went wrong, and allowing his boss to treat her even worse than that.

One can see why Marla has been waiting years for this day.”

I see where you included where Stuart let her have time off for a wedding and a honeymoon… more like a standard courtesy but coming from Stuart it was a gift. That and when he advised her against firing Josh after she caught onto his little scam to increase his own pay, that were two definitely positive things we’ve seen him do for her, so it’s not all negative interaction. Unfortunately, the cons far outweigh the pros, and so Marla can rightfully leave Stuart fending for himself as the once-great Grumbel’s empire continues to crumble.

As I said, he had no worries when it was the peons who had to worry about losing their jobs. He was ready with an early retirement and a good bye bonus. However now he gets to act all hurt that they didn’t consider him with their choices. boo hoo

“all the way down here”? I thought Stuart’s DM office was in their store. Or did I miss something?

He’s been calling in on Marla a lot, so I think he’s been spending a lot of time at corporate given how badly the store was struggling.

DMs travel quite a bit. They’re required to visit all of their stores in a set time period. He could have been a ways away.

I love Marla’s final response: “What’s this ‘two weeks’ Shinola, kemo sabe?”

The truth is Stuart, Two week notices are really only a courtesy. As you have probably stated to many of those you considered inferior: You can quit whenever you want.

Just because his “home base” is the store doesn’t mean he spends a lot of his time there. He has to be all over the area. Remember, he was in New Hampshire for some time.

She’s leaving as of today! No two weeks for you! It’s all in your lap now except for Crystal. And I hope she will finally get the backbone to tell you to call her by her right name!

What do you expect Zucchini head? You didn’t give a hoot about their livihoods being on the rocks so why show you any loyalty back. You get what you deserve.

“Stuart will be lucky if i give him a two hours notice.”
    Marla- July 19, 2011.

Indeed, he didn’t deserve that. If only whe could have been able to give him a negative timeframe. This was really great the first time I read it.
