      See…I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. I’m not from the US but I could still believe it was true given the multitude of small charges for everything…

        Yeah, it covers the charges the gift card company charges the store to activate them. It’s how the gift card company actually makes its money. My personal favourite is there’s a card where calling the automated phone service to get a balance update on the card costs $2 from the card.

    These days cards have a minimum of anywhere between 10 and 25 dollars required to be put on the card

    A) Most gift cards have a minimum of 5 to 25 dollars.

    B) Don’t do this. It’s cruel.
