In the days before ultrasounds, Dr. Abernathy had a perfect system for prediction. She’d say, “Mrs. Garrison, you’re having a girl.” Then in her little notebook, she’d write “Mrs. Garrison: boy.” If it was a girl, a perfect record. If it was a boy, she would just show the patient her notebook. “No, you’re just remembering wrong. See, I wrote my prediction down here.”
What a terrible thing to do! Why tell someone they’re having a girl and allowing them to plan for that only to be surprised when it’s a boy? After the fact, the doc then gaslights them? Terrible!

That’s brilliant!
