Now all land is owned by someone because it was all originally claimed by conquest. So all production is owned by someone and someone demands payment.
You are born into a world without being asked and immediately put into debt, have to work for someone else to get the means to pay for food or else starve, and everything you need (or are told you need) must be worked for.
