The number of independent bookstores actually have been growing every year for the past decade. There’s a little more than 50% more of ’em now than in 2009, two years before Borders closed. That growth got stunted by the pandemic, but it didn’t kill it off, and now the indie-focused bookshop.org has helped their online sales increase by more than 600%.

I remember a time when the shutdown was starting to lift there was actually a line out the door at Barnes & Noble.

There was one outside my local half price books as well. I actually stood out in the rain for 20 min waiting to get in.

How many books do you expect a department store to carry? If you want something specific go to a bookstore or order it from amazon dot com. There are many online bookstores. Stop being such a jerk will ya?

Expecting a huge selection of books at a department store is like expecting a huge selection of books at an airport.

Umm… When’s the last time you’ve been to an airport? Maybe not the smaller airports, but a lot of International Airports will have decent sized bookstores with great selection.
