You’re never too old for Disneyland / Disney World, just like you’re never too old for Halloween, pillow forts, water balloon fights or other things that sticks-in-the-mud think adults are “too old for”.

Agreed. Age is a number. Fun is eternal. Never let the kid in you die. Life’s too short.

I remember when I went on vacation to Disney World several years ago. It was my first real vacation as an adult, and I just wanted to go somewhere that was sure to be fun. I had put off taking vacation time — minus a few three-day weekends here and there — because I’d been “down-sized” from my first job so soon after I’d been hired there, and always worried people would decide I wasn’t necessary or something while I was gone. That and at the time I had an imbalanced office-mate who made my life hell but at the same time I couldn’t trust her not to start up something if I was gone a week. (Seriously, I was terrified of her… she was hyper-territorial and always believed I was spying on her for the manager or was out to steal her job. Considering that she spent so much time on the phone making sure her deadbeat son wasn’t in trouble, I’ll admit she had reasons to worry for her own job. All the same, there were times I’d go in to work, terrified that this was the day she’d brought a gun with her and would kill me.)

Anyway, I finally decided I was working myself into an early grave and, as a birthday gift to myself, went to Disney World… Epcot Center, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios (still MGM at the time), and the then-new Animal Kingdom*, had a great time, then returned home to a second, surprise birthday gift. Turns out that, while I was gone, they’d fired Mrs. Temper Tantrum because she’d been accusing management of using the new security cameras in the hallways to spy on her and they were tired of putting up with her. If I’d known that would happen, I probably would have been singing the Mickey Mouse song too while on the road 🤩

*A name I always disliked because that meant there were two “Kingdoms” at WDW. Why not Pridelands after THE LION KING or something with “Park” in the title?

It’s a pun. Animal kingdom, i.e. Animalia, the scientific category that includes all animals.

Glad the second paragraph was something happy, because that first one was dark.
