Closest I’ve seen to an automated ordering kiosks are those giant touch screens you see in the newer McDonald’s these days. There’s still a counter with a register and someone operating it.
Of course, I always like to order stuff without pickles or onions, so I use the touch screen anyway most of the time.
Yah, I ordered through those too at Taco Bell pre-pandemic, to hold the sour cream and customize a few other things. These days I use the website if I go.
