I got screamed at by some woman for the same sort of thing at my last retail job. Only instead of “false advertising”, the words she used were “bait and switch.” Trying to explain to her that I wasn’t the one who did the ordering didn’t help, and of course the guy who did wasn’t in that day. Meanwhile, her poor husband stood there silently, with this look on his face showing that he was embarrassed by her behavior.
She had plenty of time if it was sold out by Friday evening. After the busy Thursday and Friday it’s amazing that they had ANY left. Of course everyone knew SHE was coming and SHE would want one and they should’ve held one back for HER. And they didn’t so she’s upset and angry because she didn’t get what she wanted. Poor baby!
It would only be “false advertising” if no Grumbel’s location ever had the item. Has this Karen ever heard that the early bird gets the worm?
Every ad I’ve ever heard / read said something to the effect of “while supplies last.”
It’s a shame retail workers are not allowed to trot out the old “¥£$@ @$#” to customers like this.
