The whole concept of “the customer is always right” had nothing to do with insane demands. It basically said “if customers are buying chocolate and vanilla, don’t stock strawberry.”
The saying is actually “the customerS ARE always right.” In other words, it doesn’t apply to individual greed, it applies to the masses. So if customers are boycotting your store, fix the reason for it ASAP. If nobody’s buying an item, don’t keep stocking it. The idea is meant to be “To stay in business, listen to your patrons.” And yet entitled Karens and Aarons bring it up to get their way when they know they’re in the wrong.
If the quote is used correctly it ends in, “In matters of taste.”
So much like Old Wolf said, if the customer likes a thing or brand, they are correct for that item.
Does not mean what it has been made to mean because the head office monkies don’t understand that a customer always using the phrase to get away with not paying for there mistake or poor care is not making them any money, but the fear of them “Never shopping there again.” and the possibility of lost profit is worth more then their workers.
