It’s amazing just how much money a company will spend to avoid paying a human being to do a job.
(case in point, self-serve checkouts. I have never seen one last more than five years before either being removed or entirely replaced due to wear and tear)
That or from someone who can’t figure out how the process for weighed items like produce is supposed to go, and winds up beating on the darn thing like it’s an old TV set.
