There’s no irony, no punchline, just a demonstration of the sad state of the affairs that Marla has to deal with, not to mention the culture of irresponsibility and buck-passing this both represents and reinforces. Also, the fact that the unseen jerk wanted a refund rather than an exchange strongly indicates he intended to return the TV anyway after having a “kewl” football party… that he then ruined.
True. It is something that happens all too often in real-world retail, sadly. I think Norm was trying to bring attention to it, to point out that it’s wrong. Whether it helped or not, who knows.
And naturally giving the jerk his money back caused you to be under plan for the week which will result in even more lectures from Stuart. Really isn’t it time someone pushed this guy in front of a bus?
