The best example is a tool for opening clamshell packaging… that comes in a clamshell package. I can’t count the number of times I’ve cut myself on those never-sufficiently-to-be-damned things.
I’m just glad that Lee Valley (a large Canadian retailer) has promised to cut down on the amount of plastic packaging they sell, as well as offering to cut open any plastic packing on sold items that they haven’t been able to avoid.
And yes, they started this when a customer pointed out to them that their clamshell scissors were being sold in plastic clamshells…

Logic puzzles with that one. Use sheers to open clamshell, need sheers to open clamshell to get sheers.
Good tip I learned. one of the best things to use to open one of those is a can opener. . . works like a charm.
I use kitchen shears as they are designed for poultry bones after all.
Been there, done that, hate that kind of packaging with every fiber of my being.
