I worked as a janitor in one job just over a decade ago.
I’d see several co-workers rotating turns on clocking each other in, then sneaking out to have fun at a bar and getting drunk before their buddy clocks them out of the system. I know what they were doing because they had no trouble bragging about their accomplishments the next night.
I reported this to the boss, who just got the assumption that I was a “troublemaker” who apparently has a lot of extra time and energy to make these complaints, so he’d tack on extra tasks for me. Like the work that the party-going, time-clock jumpers never were doing even though they were supposed to be doing them while on the clock. So, the boss knew what was happening, but stopped caring a long time before I came along.
I lasted in that job for only a year. It was part-time, but a lot worse than any full-time job I ever had.
Of course, he’ll “forget” to punch out when he leaves.
