Worked my butt off during a manager transition at a store after all three either quit, retired, or went on maternity leave. My reward for just keeping the store going and up to cooperate standards while new mangers were getting trained? A shiny new name badge. And a letter that said you’re great at pros or whatever it was called. I found a new higher paying job a month later.
I’m about to round the bend to twenty years of service at my job. ‘Course, I’m a government employee so I’m not sure if I’m due anything. Got a debit card with a large number on it for our Christmas “lottery” this past year. I know I put it around here somewhere…
Yup I got a piece of paper that said twenty years and roasted by my manager he just had to tell the new guy who started that day how horrible my humor was ( he was the only one who thought that)
When I reached my 5 year mark at my current job, I got a new badge with an orange border, a 5 year lapel pin and a shout out on my work app. A woman, at our site, reached her 10 year mark and got a new badge with a red border about 5 years ago. She probably got something better for her 10 plus years. It’s a shame that many corporations go very very cheap recognizing their longtime employees and not value them much these days to give themselves a huge kudos (big fat bonuses) for making our jobs miserable.
I read an article not too long ago about how corporations keep their payrolls low by creating near impossible scenarios to force high paying or older employees to quit. Job opportunities went to younger people. Some have zero work ethics and zero respect for anyone but themselves and their buddies.
Even if the job is horrible, stick with it until retirement. If a better job comes along with better pay and benefits, grab it and stick with it until retirement.
These days, it is very rare to meet people who work 10 years plus anywhere. I met a woman at a store who ran the checkout register for more than 25 years. She said she enjoys interacting with people more than anything else she may have gotten at that store. She had a lot of lapel pins all over her blue vest which amazed me. Yeah, like I said, super rare.
When even Stuart thinks it’s bogus, you know it’s BAD.

I work at a grocery store and for my 20 years (Last year) I got $100 gift card to the store.
