I’ve found a slim needle (sometimes a pin if I can find it) on hand to clean my phone’s USB port. Not even compressed air is enough to clean it out…
A paperclip helps immensely at times
To be fair, corroded charging ports do happen, though it’s more about the customer keeping the phone in the pocket of a wet coat than anything to do with shipping.
Guys, guys. Not something metal, please! The idea is sound but you don’t want to risk scraping the contacts. Use a toothpick or something

I now have a little dust cover plug to prevent this very problem!
