at some point in my last tour of retail (Jan 2013-Nov 2016), I just stopped going to the quarterly store meetings. Even tho it was paid time and my schedule was adjusted for it, I was getting so little out of it — didn’t even have good refreshments — that I was fine with losing an hour’s pay. Management never said anything to me about it.
SM said meeting was mandatory. DM let out slip it wasn’t. Those not scheduled for the day, myself included, all shouted a resounding ‘WHAT!?’. DM had to back pedal and say it was a good thing we came for accurate info
Oh how I hated those mandatory meetings! We didn’t get paid to attend them, they wouldn’t even spring for a cup of coffee! I had to come in on a day off too though I had asked the manager to schedule me to work so I wouldn’t have to make a special trip for zilch money but she didn’t.
nope, storewide meetings are required for all employees to attend. The only one I remember going to was one where our SM made us all watch a fucking Ted Talk video, and they got the names of me and a friend mixed up (that led to some very sad jokes in our section after the meeting concluded)

Wouldn’t that one be better for Marla?
