Our mall is fine for now but there have been redevelopment proposals that probably won’t be realized for five years. One of our secondary malls was torn down this past spring because it was left to die. The high-end malls are fine but they’re open air, even in the frigid winters…. yeah.
I’m actually going to the mall later to do Christmas shopping. Our mall had kinda death spiraled but it’s actually bouncing back. After Elder Beerman went bankrupt (it was an ancor store) the mall began to die but hear recently TJ Maxx and a giant arcade opened up and now the mall is booming with people and new stores are opening!

So I looked at France, we still have shopping centres, even if some shops change quite often, but there are very few new shopping centres being built.
