Depends, in some states if you file, they have to actually respond back and say not to give it to you. I’ve known some people(and suspect my first job I got fired from)was apathetic enough they didn’t respond to contest.
If it’s for wrongful termination you can but since they always fight it, it can take months. My husband went through this and in the end he won but it seemed to take forever. Eventually he was given a phone hearing and I listened in on the extension. It was hard to keep my mouth shut!
would Courtney actually fight for it, though? I mean, that takes effort, and it seems like she’s more preoccupied in doing other “fun” things. I get the feeling she doesn’t even work enough (considering how often she ducks out on scheduled shifts) for unemployment to make a meaningful difference

In Idaho you can’t, New Mexico yes.
If the termination is “for cause,” that is, misconduct or some such then you would be ineligible. Otherwise probably not.
