Actually it’s 9 to 6 these days. Lunches are not usually paid any longer. But yes, office work is still a hell of a lot better than retail. I sometimes still miss “Bookers” though. Don’t really know why…
I was sacked from a call center job for being too friendly with customers, and not putting up with the abusive bullshit. “Unprofessional,” they said it was. When I told them it was probably the most soul-withering job I had ever had, they said “Well, this kind of work is not for everybody.” No, friends, this kind of work – basically retail without the face-to-face – is for nobody. No one should have to deal with abusive and ignorant customers. But many do, and I’m grateful for the people who are there for us, and I do my best to let them know.
Yeah after working 60 or more hours including ALL weekends, you’ll feel like you’re on vacation with a 9-5 job, coming home around the same time every night and having weekends off. You’ll adjust very well.

Or 8 to 5.
Try 7:30 to 7.
Luxury!
When I was working an office job, we worked 8.30 to 8.00. And I mean 8.30 am to 8.00 am. They gave us half an hour off for good behaviour!
Marla, stop giving up on yourself.
She’s been beaten down by Grumbel’s for so long, that’s her default. It’s going to take time to heal.

Scott’s last appearance!
I will admit…it was an adjustment for me to move from fast food to office work. I quickly acclimated though.
