I wonder what would happen if retailers stopped allowing returns on merch purchased between Thanksgiving and Christmas (unless it was actually defective, of course)?
They should also allow even exchanges on clothing (because of wrong sizes) and other similar situations (i.e. “My aunt bought me new sheets for my bed, but got me full-size when my bed’s a queen.”). So that way, you still get what’s technically the same gift, just the right size.
I wonder if Jerry as DM when Stuart was SM ever gave him calls like this. Of course Stuart would’ve passed the blame for failing to meet sales goals onto Marla. Marla wouldn’t do that to Crystal. I think Stuart lives in some kind of dream world where just to say it is to make it so. “Just sell more!” Yeah right. If only it were that easy.
Jerry was probably just as useless as Stuart, which may have been why Gary and Connie didn’t last very long at the district level. Connie we know went on to greener pastures (because she saw the hell hole that was Grumbel’s corporate and jumped ship as soon as she could instead of get dragged down to that level) and Gary may have been Peter Principled up to the next corporate level because his suggestions were taking too much money from the Grumbel’s inner circle.
Considering how Stuart’s promotion went, it’s possible he was Peter Principled as well. It sucks, but at least it means at the store level the actual competent people were promoted and were able to keep the ship floating. Upper management have washed their hands of it as long as no legal action comes about (which Marla absolutely should’ve threatened when Stuart did what he did over the hiring of Crystal)

Nope, Gary was fired because Jerry wanted his job back.
