I always hated this. It’s not about doing simple math, it’s about interrupting your normal workflow to do math on the spot and under pressure, with multiple people in line staring at you, and knowing that if you do accidentally get it wrong you will get yelled at because your register is wrong.
Also, for some reason, people would always get a bill of $10.27, give $20, and then after the register opens they decide to give you $0.35 (a quarter and a dime) because they didn’t actually have a quarter and two pennies to make exact change. Or they’d give you a quarter and expect you to take $0.02 out of the “take a penny, leave a penny” jar, which our store did not actually have.
Oh Courtney, how we love to hate you
You can still take the 27 cents and change out just a $10 bill.
I hate when people do this. And they do it all the time. I wish Cooper and his cattle prod were around.
Yeah, annoying whether you are the cashier or the person behind them. If I use cash, I usually have it ready by the time I get checked out.
