Maybe, and maybe not. Our sales flyers were printed out by a third-party company, with the disclaimer that we were not responsible for misprints by said company. It happened at least once while I was working there, and of course I had to hear the customers bitch about it. Not that I blame them, I’d be mad too, but I didn’t appreciate getting yelled at for something I had no control over.
That seems to be one of the criterion for working retail (or restaurant work or behind any counter). Take the blame for decisions made by the Corporate office and any and all mistakes. Just grovel and say you’re sorry though it wasn’t your fault or your doing. No wonder it’s such a soul sucking job. In these jobs you basically have to allow yourself to be bullied by management, Corporate and customers ALL THE TIME. If you don’t feel lower than a snake’s belly you’re not doing it right.
