As a call center rep, I could not deal with constantly having to apologize to angry customers for things that were not my fault. I didn’t last long. They told me, “some people are just not cut out for call center work.” I don’t think *anyone* is cut out for a job where being abused daily is part of the job description.
That’s right. In these jobs you have to essentially allow yourself to be bullied just to keep a low paying job. Taking blame for something beyond your control, getting yelled at for some Corporate policy that you actually agree with the customer about but have to enforce anyway, just eats away at your soul.
