The coupon probably says, “Cannot be combined with any other offer” and the computer would reject it. At least, that’s what happened at my last retail job.
Or perhaps it will see that you only have one paid-for item and so it won’t accept it because you need to have two to qualify for the discount.
Hmm. I wonder what would happen if you had THREE….
