Supposedly, a distant cousin used the fact that he was a leap year baby to get out of the draft as he was way too young.

I’m sure he liked to tell that story. Of course, it’s not true. The law has provisions for those born on Leap Day.

p.s. You can also rib him the next time you see him order an alcoholic beverage at a restaurant. “You haven’t has 21 birthdays yet!”

That should, of course, be “…had 21 birthdays yet”.

    He’s five… and a little bit older.

Gioachino Rossini was born on 29 February 1792. That’s the only person I can name offhand who was born on leap year day.

[Checks Wikipedia] Tim Powers (author) was born on LYD 1952. Seriously, go out and read The Anubis Gates. Published a while ago, but a good time travel story.

I finally met someone in 2020 whose birthday was February 29. She was turning 12 so I told her she was actually only 3. And she ought to love it, when she turns 60 she’ll only be 15.
