    This man would have hated buying cigarettes where I used to live. We had the highest tobacco taxes in the Country.

        It is difficult. My wife did it, though. Every time she wanted a cigarette, she’d make herself wait five minutes — 300 seconds. If she still wanted it, she’d have it. If not, she wouldn’t.

        Nicotine is a difficult addiction, withdrawal lasts three times as long as with opium, and there’s a raft of habits to reinforce it. But this method allows your brain to slowly remodel away nicotine receptors without hitting you with overwhelming cravings.
