    and yet they didn’t learn.

    I live in a place that is heavily dependent on the energy sector (mostly oil and gas) and in my lifetime there have been at least 3 boom and bust cycles (not to mention the WFC that this strip is talking about). They probably existed before, but I recall in 2014 seeing bumper stickers on various rigpig mobiles (lifted trucks) that said “Lord, give me one more oil boom, I swear I won’t waste it”. A decade later and it’s the same story
