the last time I was dating around Valentine’s Day, she complained about the consumerism and pointlessness of the holiday as well. Said she didn’t want anything, it was all a sham, etc.
and when I didn’t get her anything, she got mad at me. 🙁
Then you should have given her something handmade and/or taken her somewhere nice that is atypical of the day…like the beach, or a walk in the countryside or something like that. Maybe a picnic.
It’s not difficult to be romantic without spending large amounts of cash on needless objects.
